A dream I have had several times is where I move back to Spain, where I taught English for a few years after college. It looks beautiful (although it always looks different than the real place), but I am usually having to do something difficult or just generally having a hard time. I think it is a stress dream, kind of like the “I’m still in college, but I haven’t been going to class and the test is today” kind of dream. Living in Spain was a great adventure, but was also really difficult and lonely at times. In this one, I ran into a Spanish girl that I dated, which was exciting at first, but then devolved into all the reasons why that relationship didn’t work. I then didn’t have a place to stay and decided I needed to find a place to sleep on the streets, but at one point was being pursued by a pack of rabid rats. As I laid down on a stoop to go to bed, I checked both of my phones (I had two for some reason) and didn’t have any messages on either of them.
This dream seems to reflect unresolved feelings and emotions from your time in Spain, particularly related to the challenges and difficulties you faced during that period. The setting of Spain in your dream may symbolize a time of great beauty and adventure, but also a time of struggle and loneliness.
The recurring theme of being in a difficult or stressful situation in the dream could indicate that there are unresolved issues or emotions from your past experiences in Spain that are still affecting you. Running into the Spanish girl you dated may represent unresolved feelings or regrets about that relationship, as you find yourself revisiting the reasons why it didn't work out.
The part of the dream where you end up on the streets, being pursued by rats, and feeling isolated when checking your phones, could symbolize feelings of vulnerability, fear, and loneliness. It may suggest that you are feeling overwhelmed and unsupported in your current circumstances, and may be struggling to find a sense of security or connection.
Overall, this dream could be a reflection of your subconscious mind processing unresolved emotions and anxieties from your past, and may be a call to address and work through these feelings in order to find closure and peace. It may be helpful to reflect on your experiences in Spain, acknowledge your feelings, and consider seeking support or guidance to help you work through any lingering issues.
